Visitors welcome but please telephone first to avoid disappointment.

I was born in Nottingham, England in 1958 and from 1968 was educated in Dublin, Ireland. After leaving school I worked initially in small production potteries between 1975 and 1978.

Since then I am largely self taught, setting up my first studio and retail shop in Old Colwyn in 1978, where I lived and shared workshops with my partner who enamels on copper. There I produced domestic and decorative oxidised stoneware and porcelain.

In 1987 we moved to a more rural locatoin in the Conwy Valley, renovating a cottage and building new workshops where I now live and make high fired, reduction stoneware and porcelain which are gas fired to 1295c.

I have no set range, but my work includes a wide spectrum of domestic, decorative and individual pieces from mugs, jugs, pictorial bowls, breadcrocks and gardenware to more non-functional and sculptural ceramics.

I essentially favour an abstract expressionist approach to making but my influences are never the less varied and include the far-Eastern tradition of ceramics (Korean, Chinese and Japanese), prehistoric art and the North Wales landscape.

I have exhibitied widely over the years but now choose to sell most work directly to individuals. This is not particularly appropriate to the more commercial sector but allows for more artistic freedom and experimentation.
